Northampton, MA: The Pioneers scored 65 points today to take fourth place at the 2007 New England Women's
and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Track & Field
Championship. MIT was first with 215, Wheaton second, 178;
Springfield third, 140; Mount Holyoke fifth with 60, Coast Guard sixth,
59; WPI seventh 38 and Babson was eighth with 16.
Senior tri-captain McKane Sharff (Arlington, MA), senior Shayla Livingston (Sharon, VT) and first year Etta Grover-Silva (Arcata, CA) all earned second team All Conference honors with their second place finishes in the 100m (12.81), the 400m hurdles (1:04.92) and pole vault (3.27m) respectively. Sharff and Livingston were both members of the 4x100m relay team that took third in 50.06 while Livingston also took third in the 100m hurdles (15.6); was a member of the 4x400m relay team that took third in 4:05.97 and finished seventh in the pole vault (2.82m). Sophomore Nora Youngs (Penacook, NH) finished third in the steeplechase (11:42) and was a member of the 4x400m relay while classmate Caitlin Ritchie (Meriden, CT) took third in the javelin (34.69 m) and was a member of the 4x100 relay team. Alina Ainyette (South Orange, NJ) finished 8th in the 400m (1:03) and ran a leg of the 4x400. First year Sienna Boyd (Ipswich, MA) was sixth in the high jump (1.5m); Claire Edwards (Klamath Falls, OR) took seventh in the long jump (4.84m) and ran the 4x100 relay and Jasmine Liverpool (Brooklyn, NY) finished 7th in the triple jump (10.2); eighth in the long jump (4.81) and ran a leg of the 4x400 relay. |
