Track & Field Finishes 6th at Reggie Poyau Invitational

Waltham, MA: In today’s invitational held at Brandeis University, the Pioneers finished 6th overall with 27 points.  Bowdoin College was the day’s high scorer, tallying 179 points, followed by Brandeis (149), Trinity (57), WPI (57), UMASS-Dartmouth (40), Smith (27), Emmanuel (20), and Bridgewater State (16).  

Senior sprinter McKane Sharff (Arlington, MA) led the way for the Pioneers, scoring 20 of the team’s overall points by winning both the 55 Meter Dash (7.52) and the 200 Meter Run (27.45).  In the 1000 Meter Run junior Christine Linton (Lexington, MA) finished fifth with a time of 3:35.03.  Freshman Jasmine Liverpool (Brooklyn, NY) also contributed points by placing fifth in the 400 Meter Run (1:06.29), followed by sophomore teammate Alina Ainyette (South Orange, NJ) who placed sixth (1:06.29).   Liverpool also finished fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 9.72 meters.  

The Pioneers will compete again next Saturday at the University of Southern Maine.  Meet time is scheduled for 1 pm.
