Martineau Takes Second, Smith Sixth at
USCSA National Championships
Northampton, MA: Junior Mikaela Martineau (Providence,
UT) had the best performance in Smith
College Ski history yesterday as she raced to second place in the giant slalom
at the 2007 United States Collegiate Ski Association (USCSA) National Championships
held in Winter Park, CO. Martineau, who earned All American
First Team honors, had a combined time of 2.11.84, just 0:02.25
behind Lea Lozar of Sierra Nevada College who won the event in 2:09.59.
The
Pioneers, who finished sixth out of nineteen teams in the giant slalom event,
had outstanding runs by junior Lindsey
MacNabb (Vernon, British
Columbia) who finished 16th overall and first year Kara Munsey (Burnt Hills, NY)
who placed 33rd for a combined team time of 406.67, just 11.57 seconds
out of first place.
Smith
trains today for the slalom event which will be held tomorrow.
