MA: The Pioneers fell behind the Golden Bears 14-5 in th first
half of the non-conference matchup yesterday in Springfield and were
unable to overcome the deficit in the second half. With the loss,
Smith fell to 4-8 overall while Western New England ran its
winning streak to nine games and improved to 10-3 overall.
Junior Kayte Devine (New Fairfield, CT) led WNEC and all scorers with six goals and an assist with senior Audrey Kelton (Wilder, VT) adding three goals with four assists. Junior Emilie Donka (White River Jct., VT) had 11 saves for WNEC in her first varsity appearance after replacing injured Brie Sylvia. Junior Sara Smyth (Brooklyn, NY) tallied five goals for the Pioneers while sophomore Blair Rapalyea (Prides Crossing, MA) and first year Rebecca Capute (Easton, MD) each scored twice. Sara Smith (Brooklyn, NY) made 12 stops for the Pioneers in the loss. The Pioneers travel to Wheaton College on Saturday, April 21 for a 12:30 pm NEWMAC contest. |
