Northampton, MA: Smith junior Sara Smyth (Brooklyn, NY) scored the first goal of the game at the 26:59 mark but it was MIT who rattled off the next thirteen goals to put the game out of reach for the Pioneers. With the loss, Smith fell to 3-7 overall and 0-4 in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) while MIT improved to 3-6 overall and 1-3 in conference action.

First year Casey Flynn (Silver Spring, MD) scored four of her five goals in the Engineers’ run while midfielders Samantha O’Keefe (Carlisle, MA) and Laura Watson (Bethpage, NY) chipped in with three apiece. The Pioneers were able to find the net in the final five minutes of play as first Rebecca Capute (Easton, MD) tallied two of her team high five goals and Sarah Barksdale (Baltimore, MD) scored to end the half 13-4. Capute and Smyth combined for three goals in the beginning of the second half before the Engineers responded with four of their own.  Hee Jay Kang (Old Tappan, NJ) made 10 saves in the win for MIT while Sara Smith (Brooklyn, NY) had 19 in the loss for Smith.
