April 7, 2007 For Immediate Release Contact: Carole Grills (413) 585-2703 Crew Opens Spring Racing in Worcester Northampton, MA: The Smith crew competed in their first races of the spring season today in Worcester against Colby, WPI, Wesleyan, Williams and Holy Cross. The varsity eight rowed two races finishing second in both. The first race was won by Colby (7:13.9) followed by Smith (7:15.83), WPI (7:23.75) and Wesleyan (7:47.97) while the second race was won by Williams (7:17.8), with Smith second (7:31.32), Holy Cross third (7:45.17) and Colby fourth (7:48.54). The varsity four (9:25.66) finished second to Wesleyan (9:04.3). The second varsity 8 came in fourth (7:38.3) with Holy Cross winning the race (7:17.1), Williams (7:27.78) and Colby third (7:38.3) while the novices finished third and fourth (8:43.7, 9:05.41) behnd Williams (7:46.83) and Holy Cross (8:00.73). |
