           Smith Cross-Country Places 33rd at Open New England Championships

Northampton, MA: The Smith cross-country team finished 33rd among 46 Division I, II, and III institutions today at the Open New England Championships held in Franklin Park, Boston. Boston University won the event with 126 points with Marissa Ryan of BU
crossing the finish line in a time of 17:23.

     Scoring for Smith were Nora Youngs (Penacook, NH) in 89th place with a time of 19:08; Alison Cloutier (Easthampton, CT) in 141st (19:35); Meredith Jones (Ridgewood, NJ) 177th in 19:55; Megan Kiefer (River Forest, IL) in 210th place (20:14) and Christine Linton (Lexington, MA) in 273rd place in a time of 21:35.

    The Pioneers will compete again next Saturday when they travel to Bryn Mawr, PA to race in the Seven Sisters Championship.
