 Cross Country Finishes Second at Codfish Bowl

Northampton, MA:  The Pioneers took second place among 17 Division II and III institutions at the Codfish Bowl Cross Country race held this morning at Franklin Park, Boston.

            The top six team finishers were Stonehill with 49 points followed by Smith with 126, Brandeis 198, Bentley 233, Felician (NJ) 268 and Southern Maine 284.

          Sophomore Nora Youngs (Penacook, NH) finished 11^th over the 5,000m course in a time of 19:36, junior Alison Cloutier (Easthampton, CT) was 17^th (19:54), first year Meredith Jones (Ridgewood, NJ) 31^st in a time of 20:11, sophomore Sari Field (Nutley, NJ) was 37^th (20:29) with first year Megan Kiefer (River Forest, IL) just two seconds behind Field rounding out the scorers for the Pioneers.

            Smith will compete again on Saturday, Oct. 7 when they race in the Open New England Championships in Boston.
