December 9, 2006 For Immediate Release Contact: Carole Grills (413) 585-2703 Track & Field Places Individuals in Opening Meet Northampton, MA: The Pioneers had some good performances today in the non-team scoring Smith Tartan Invitational, the first meet of the season. Senior McKane Sharff (Arlington, MA) won the 55 meter dash in a time of 7.58 and 200 meter dash (27.62) and placed 5th in the long jump with a distance of 4.35m. Classmate Shayla Livingston (Sharon, VT) won the 55m hurdles (9.32) and took second in the 600m (1:43.50). First year Etta Grover-Silva (Arcata, CA) won the pole vault event with a 9.00 mark, finished 4th in the 55m (8.16) and 6th in the 200m (20.62). Rounding out the top performances for the Pioneers were first year Hailey Bird (Salt Lake City, UT) with a 5th place in the 200m dash (30.45) and Jasmine Liverpool (Brooklyn, NY) with a third in the long jump (4.41 m). |
