Smith Soccer Defeats Trinity 2-1

header off a corner kick by Janine Olthuis
(Cavan, Ontario, Canada)
at the 69:50 mark gave the Pioneers a 2-1 victory over Trinity
College this afternoon in Northampton. With the win, Smith improves to 3-5 while
Trinity falls to 1-6.
Trinity got
on the board first 10:49 into the
game as Amy Joyce (Somerville, MA) fed the ball to Rachel Talentino (Wayland, MA) who shot
the ball past Pioneer keeper Lauren
Bachtel (Dublin, OH). Smith tied the game up ten minutes
later when Valerie Driscoll (Keene, NH)
scored unassisted.
Sophomore
keeper Marlowe Dieckmann (Oakland, CA)
picked up the win for Smith and Tara
Finucane (Branford, CT)
the loss for the Bantams. The Pioneers
are in action again on Saturday when they travel to Babson
College for a New England Women’s
and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest at noon.
