         Smith Soccer Defeats Trinity 2-1

Northampton, MA:  Dalyn Houser’s (Atlanta, GA) header off a corner kick by Janine Olthuis (Cavan, Ontario, Canada) at the 69:50 mark gave the Pioneers a 2-1 victory over Trinity College this afternoon in Northampton.  With the win, Smith improves to 3-5 while Trinity falls to 1-6.

Trinity got on the board first 10:49 into the game as Amy Joyce (Somerville, MA) fed the ball to Rachel Talentino (Wayland, MA) who shot the ball past Pioneer keeper Lauren Bachtel (Dublin, OH). Smith tied the game up ten minutes later when Valerie Driscoll (Keene, NH) scored unassisted.

Sophomore keeper Marlowe Dieckmann (Oakland, CA) picked up the win for Smith and Tara Finucane (Branford, CT) the loss for the Bantams.  The Pioneers are in action again on Saturday when they travel to Babson College for a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest at noon.
