Springfield, MA: In today’s conference match-up with Springfield
College, the Pioneers used timely offense to outdo the Pride, as they
notched a 1-0 victory. With the win, the 7-5-1 Pioneers
move into second place in the NEWMAC. First year Elsa Rosales (Inglewood, CA) scored the game’s only goal on an assist from sophomore Brittoni Famous (Collegevill, PA) after approximately 76 minutes of scoreless play. Not only was today’s goal Rosales’ first game-winner, but it was also her first goal in a Pioneer jersey. Sophomore goal keeper Lauren Bachtel (Dublin, OH) was flawless in goal, as she was credited with her third shut-out of the season, while also improving her season-long saves total to 45. The Pioneers are in action again this Tuesday, October 17 as they host NEWMAC competitor Clark University at 3:30 pm. 1 2 F Smith (7-5-1) 0 1 1 Springfield (8-4) 0 0 0 Scoring: Smith- Elsa Rosales (76:05), assisted by Brittoni Famous Keepers: Smith- Lauren Bachtel (90 minutes), 0 GA, 3 saves Springfield- Sue Jenney (90 minutes), 1 GA, 2 saves Shots: Smith- 5 Springfield- 10 Corners: Smith- 2 Springfield- 4
