Smith Soccer Falls to Elizabethtown 2-0
Northampton, MA:
The Pioneers fell to 1-1 overall this afternoon as the Blue Jays of Elizabethtown
College (PA) defeated Smith 2-0 at the Stevens Institute of Technology Tournament
(Hoboken, NJ),
Sophomore Brooke Dotterer (Spring City, PA)
scored the winning goal 27:04 into the first half and followed with an insurance goal at
the 69:20 mark with an assist from senior Kelly
McCauley (Newark, DE). With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 2-0-1.
Smith
keeper Lauren Bachtel (Dublin, OH)
played the first 45 minutes of regulation and picked up the loss while keeper Marlowe Dieckmann (Oakland, CA)
was in goal the second half for the Pioneers.
Angela Freeland (Marlton, NJ)
registered the shutout for the Blue Jays.
The Pioneers
are in action again on Tuesday when they travel to Keene State (NH) for a 7 p.m. independent contest.
