           Field Hockey Falls to Mount Holyoke 2-1 in Double Overtime

Northampton, MA:  Smith fell to Mount Holyoke 2-1 in double overtime in a hard-fought, heartbreaking loss this afternoon in South Hadley. With the win, Mount Holyoke improves to 5-7 overall and 2-2 in conference play while Smith falls to 4-8 overall and 1-4 in NEWMAC competition.
     Both teams battled it out the first 35 minutes with the game remaining scoreless at the half.  With twenty minutes remaining in regulation, the Pioneers took the lead on a goal by Alex Janos (Hillsboroguh, NJ) assisted by Rebecca Capute (Easton, MD), but the Lyons tied it up with 11:45 remaining on a penalty stroke by Meaghan Murphy (Glenmont, NY) that forced overtime.
     The teams played a scoreless first fifteen minute overtime but with 7:37 remaining in the second segment, Mount Holyoke's Ariana Baudouin (Norwalk, CT) found the net to give the Lyons the victory.
     Smith will travel to Western New England on Thursday for a non-conference 4 p.m. game.
