 Sixteen Athletes Named to NEWMAC Academic All Conference Team

Northampton, MA:  Sixteen Smith athletes were named to their team’s respective Academic All Conference Team. Criteria for the recognition include maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher and reaching sophomore status. The cross-country, volleyball and tennis team each had four players named while soccer and field hockey had two each.

             Named from the cross-country team were Alison Cloutier ‘08, East Hampton, CT, engineering major; Rebecca Staples-Moore ’08, Concord, MA, Education and Child Study major; Emily Yen ’09, Potomac, MD and Nora Youngs ’09, Penacook, NH.  Tennis team members included Talia Williams ’08, Montpelier, VT, psychology major; Seiko Fujii, Aichi, Japan, biochemistry major; Vida Chen ’08, San Jose, CA, neuroscience major and MyDzung Chu ’09, Springfield, MA. Named from the volleyball team are Kathryn Thiel ’07, Lamoille, NV, engineering major; Deb Sasges ’07, Vancouver, BC, Canada, neuroscience major; Alexandra Dale ’07, South Deerfield, MA, studio art major and Allison Jones ’08, Winsted, CT, history major.  Recognized from the soccer and field hockey teams respectively are Caitlin Colman-McGaw ’08, Manchester, CT, women’s studies major; Janine Olthuis ’08, Cavan, Ont, Canada, psychology major; Trudi Cloyd ’07, Houston, TX, biology major and Lauren Pierce ’07, Asheville, NC, government major.
