Equestrian Places Third at Williams Show

Willamstown, MA: After a long day of riding at the Williams Show, the Pioneers placed third amongst ten teams, scoring a total of 21 points. UMASS and Mt. Holyoke College tied for champion with 35 points each, followed by Becker (24), Smith (21), and Williams (20).

There were many highlights throughout the day and the Pioneers had several riders receive high finishes. Winning blue ribbons for Smith were Jessica Willis in alumnae competition, Anna Logowitz (Newtonville, MA), and Martha MaloneyHuss (Wilmington, DE). Winning second place ribbons were Emily Hertz (Brattleboro, VT), Christy Stine, (East Dover, VT), and Lizzy Jacobson (New Fairfied, CT). In addition, Willis, Stine, and Jacobson also finished third within their respective competitions. Smith also had three riders receive a fourth place finish as Hertz, Sarah Maxner (Norwich, VT), and Charlotte Ballantine (Alstead, NH) all rode well.

Other highlights for the day included Stine qualifying for Regionals in Novice Over Fences, as well as Stine and Jacobson being tied for Reserve Champion Novice Rider of the day. Jacobson won the tie breaker against her teammate and received the Reserve Champion ribbon.

The Pioneers will ride again Saturday, October 28 at the Mt. Holyoke Show.
