         Smith Basketball Falls to Bowdoin 98-51

Northampton, MA:  The Pioneers dropped their second game of the season on Saturday at Bowdoin College 98-51.  With the loss, Smith falls to 0-2 overall while the game was the season opener for the Polar Bears.
     The Pioneers kept it close in the first half entering halftime down just eight points (45-37) but were outscored 53-14 in the second half. Bowdoin's EileenFlaherty (Fairfield, CT) led all players with 18 points.  First year Berit Schelde (Holstebro, DENMARK) was the high scorer for Smith with 15 points followed by first years Marjorie Soler (San Francisco, CA) and LisaMarie Vuono (Lyndhurst, NJ) who each added eight in the loss.
     Smith is in action again on Tuesday, November 21 when they travel to Elms College for a 6 p.m. game before breaking for Thanksgiving.  The team will host Trinity in the Tyler Home Tip Off Game on Tuesday, November 28 at 7 p.m.
