Smith Volleyball Blanks Clark

Northampton, MA: The Pioneers dominated NEWMAC opponent Clark University in tonight’s home match-up.  With tonight’s victory, Smith improves to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the NEWMAC.

Smith came out strong in the first game, defeating the Cougars 30-15.  The Pioneers continued to control the following games with scores of 30-15 and 30-18.

The attack was led by Kate Sorenson (Kelso, WA) as she recorded 9 kills and 12 digs.  Katie Shafer (Red Bluff, CA) also added 5 kills along with 16 digs.  Lauren Perry (Metairie, LA) helped control the offense by offering 33 assists.  Other Pioneer standouts included Jesse Martin (Mt. View, CA) who recorded 8 kills, Kathryn Thiel (Lamoille, NV) and Megan Sasaki (Singapore) who each had 8 and 7 digs, respectively.

The Pioneers will travel to Wellesley College this Saturday to face the Blue in a conference match-up.
