Smith Volleyball Remains Undefeated in NEWMAC

Babson Park, MA: The Pioneers of Smith defeated the Babson Beavers Tuesday evening 3-0 to remain undefeated in the New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play. Stretching their consecutive win streak to five, Smith posted scores of 30-21, 30-10, and 30-28 to hand Babson their third straight conference loss.

Leading the way for the Pioneers were sophomore middle blocker Sammy Lyon (Los Angeles, CA) with 13 kills and 6 blocks, sophomore outside hitter Catherine Shafer (Red Bluff, CA) with 14 kills and 10 digs, and senior setter Lauren Perry (Metairie, LA) who recorded 33 assists and 4 aces.

Smith improves their overall record to 6-1 and are in a three way tie for first place in the conference along with Springfield and MIT. Smith will travel to Cambridge, MA this weekend to participate in the MIT Invitational.
