                   Volleyball Defeats Amherst 3-1

Amherst, MA: The Pioneers defeated Amherst College last night for the first time since 1997. With the win, Smith improves to 11-2 overall while the Jeffs drop to 7-4.
     Amherst won its only game of the match 30-26 with Smith taking the next three games 30-22, 30-19 and 30-27. Kate Sorensen (Kelso, WA) led the attack with 22 kills, 20 digs and 2 blocks with Katie Shafer (Red Bluff, CA) adding 20 kills and 25 digs. Senior setter Lauren Perry (Metairie, LA) tallied 58 assists with 17 digs.
     The Pioneers have the upcoming weekend off and will face NEWMAC rival Coast Guard on Tuesday, October 4th in New London at 7 p.m.
