 Wheaton Tennis Defeats Smith 6-3

Northampton, MA:  In NEWMAC competition this afternoon, the Lyons of Wheaton College defeated the Pioneers of Smith 6-3.  With the victory, Wheaton improves to 7-4 overall and 4-3 in NEWMAC play while the Pioneers fall to 0-7 overall and 0-6 in the conference. The number one and two doubles teams of Smith comprised of Cami Whitney (South Pasadena, CA) and Seiko Fujii (Aichi, JAPAN) and Talia Williams (Montpelier, VT) and Catherine Lydecker (Conway, NH) won their matches by identical 8-4 scores while Whitney at number one singles picked up the other Smith win defeating Jamie Weiss 4-6, 6-0, 6-2.
