Smith Tennis Defeated by Springfield in a 5-4 Decision

Northampton, MA: In a hard fought and evenly played match against Springfield College, the Smith Pioneers fell to the Pride in tonight’s conference match-up. Springfield took a 2-1 lead after doubles action was completed. Smith came out strong in the singles matches, winning three of the six. Nevertheless, Springfield also took home three singles victories, defeating the Pioneers with a final score of 5-4.

Springfield improves to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in NEWMAC competition. Smith is currently 0-2 overall and 0-2 in the NEWMAC. The Pioneers travel to Medord, MA tomorrow to play Tufts University.
