Smith Tennis Defeated by Rival Mount Holyoke 7-2

South Hadley, MA: Smith Tennis traveled to conference rival Mount Holyoke yesterday afternoon for their fourth conference game of the season. The young squad, still trying to find their rhythm, lost to the Lyons 7-2. With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 0-4 in the NEWMAC, while the Lyons improve to 2-2 in conference play.

Sophomores Catherine Lydecker (Conway, NH) and Jacqueline Sager (Marion, MA) pulled out both Smith wins at number two and six singles respectively. Lydecker defeated opponent Angela Horner 6-3, 6-2, while Sager easily defeated her opponent, Caitlin McCarrie 6-1,6-2.

Smith will compete in the Omni ITA in New Brunswick, Maine this weekend before resuming conference play at Wellesley College on October 1st.
