Northampton, MA: Smith Tennis finished their fall season in this afternoon’s make-up match, with a convincing 9-0 defeat of NEWMAC rival Clark University. This afternoon’s match was each school’s final conference match of the fall season as each team missed a chance to compete in the conference championship this weekend. With the two teams each seeking their first conference victory, Smith came out the victors in the end, finishing the season 1-7 in the conference, leaving Clark winless in conference play. The 2005 NEWMAC Tennis Championship ended this afternoon, with #1 ranked Wellesley defeating #2 ranked MIT for their second consecutive NEWMAC Championship. Smith Tennis will take to the courts again in the Spring when they compete in the Seven Sisters Tennis Championship and with matches scheduled against Skidmore, Williams, Trinity, Bowdoin, and conference rival Springfield.
