Middletown, CT: Smith Indoor Track & Field opened their season this morning on the road at the Wesleyan Invitational, showing signs of good things to come this year. Senior Katie Walters-Krohn (Minneapolis, MN) was the lone Pioneer to capture a first place finish, throwing the shot put 41'4.25 to win the event and qualify for ECACs. Sophomore Becky Staples-Moore (Concord, MA) placed third in the 3000 Meter run (11:58.22) while first year Claire Edwards (Klamath Falls, OR) qualified for the Division III New England Championship with her sixth place finish in the 55m (7.87). Senior Sue Jensen (Saxons River, VT) cleared 9'00" to place fourth in the Pole Vault. Smith Track & Field will travel to Brandeis University next Saturday, January 21 to compete in the Brandeis Invitational. Complete Results can be found at www.plattysys.com |
