| October 22, 2005 For Immediate Release Contact: Carole Grills (413) 585-2703 Smith Soccer Defeats Wellesley, 1-0, in Overtime Northampton, MA: Sophomore Janine Olthuis (Cavan, Ontario, Canada) scored the game winning goal for the Pioneers four minutes into the first overtime period to give Smith a 1-0 victory over New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) rival Wellesley College this afternoon in Northampton. An evenly played 90 minutes of regulation found both teams taking four shots on goal without scoring. At the 94:11 mark, senior Johanna Perez (San Francisco, CA) crossed the ball from the right corner to Olthuis who scored over the outstretched hands of Wellesley’s keeper, Samantha Littlejohn (D.ayton, NJ).
