South Hadley, MA: The Pioneers fell to NEWMAC rival Mount Holyoke College 2-1 in tonight’s last regular season game. The Lyons, who were coming off two consecutive conference victories against WPI and Babson, improve to 7-9 overall and 3-6 in the NEWMAC. Smith is currently 7-6-2 overall and 4-4-1 in conference play. The Pioneers came out strong in the first half as Senior Catherine Peo (Stow, MA) scored at the 19:26 mark. Peo was assisted by first year team member Natalie Sullivan (Aptos, CA). However, the Lyons used an aggressive offense in the second half, as Lindsay Ordower (Scotch Plains, NJ) took advantage of a penalty kick and Monica Liau (Darnestown, MD) scored off a corner attempt. Smith is back in action this Saturday as they compete in the quarterfinal round of the NEWMAC Championship.
