Northampton, MA: The Smith Pioneers fell to the Golden Bears of Western New England College 2-0 in tonight’s home match-up. The Pioneers are currently 5-3 while the Golden Bears improve to 8-2. The game highlighted solid defense by the Pioneers, as Smith’s Megan Maguire (Hatfield, MA) had fifteen saves on the night. However, with 14:52 left in the first half, the Golden Bears’ Cori Eggert (Denville, NJ) scored the night’s opening goal off an assist by Caitlin Gelber (Centereach, NY). Gelber also scored the final goal of the evening off an assist by Allison Jameson (Brattleboro, VT) in the second half.
