 Field Hockey Loses to Babson in NEWMAC Championship Quarterfinals

Babson Park, MA:  Number one seed Babson College defeated the Pioneers 6-0 this afternoon in quarterfinal action of the 2005 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Championship.

             The Beavers dominated the entire game taking 31 shots to Smith’s five.  Senior forward Elise Conley (Shrewsbury, MA) scored a hat trick for Babson with classmate Gina Giardina (St. Louis, MO) adding two goals and junior Andrea Tufts (Wolfeboro, NH) tallying one goal. Elissa Slovin (Andover, MA) made one save in goal for Babson while Smith senior Megan Maguire (Hatfield, MA) stopped 25 shots in goal for the Pioneers.  Babson improves its overall record to 17-4 and will host the final four of the Conference championship November 4th and 5th.  With the loss, the Pioneers end the season with an overall record of 6-11.
