October 15, 2005 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Jen Steele (413) 585-3076 Equestrian Places Third at UMASS Show
Amherst, MA: Smith finished third at today’s show held at the University of Massachusetts. Mount Holyoke College placed first with a total of 47 points, followed by UMASS with 34, and Smith with 31. The Pioneers had two riders qualify. Kristen Vogelhuber (Fairlawn, OH) moved from beginner to advanced in walk, trot, canter and Jill Medinger (Newton, CT) qualified in intermediate flat. Winning blue ribbons for Smith were Emily Hertz (Brattleboro, VT), Samantha Leland (Winter Park, FL), and Vogelhuber. Second place finishers were Susan MacLauchlan (Somers, CT), Christy McKenzie (Trumansburg, NY), Yvonne Li (Bayside, NY), and Katherine Obara (Portsmouth, RI). Smith also had six riders place third as Nancy Cannon (Greenville, DE), Michaela LeBlanc (Cotuit, MA), Layne Chaya (Brewick, PA), Martha MaloneyHuss (Wilimington, DE), Solana Schiller (Southampton, MA), and Jane Kim (Closter, NJ) each rode well. The Pioneers will compete again on October 22 at the Williams Show. |
