Equestrian Concludes Fall Season by Finishing 4th at the Amherst Show

Amherst, MA: In their fourth show of the season, the Smith Pioneers took 4th place at today’s show at Amherst College. Mount Holyoke College was crowned champion with a total of 41 points, followed by UMASS with 36, Becker College with 28, and the Pioneers with 25.

Senior Yvonne Li (Bayside, NY) rode well as she moved from beginner to advanced in walk, trot, canter. Freshman Christine Stine (East Dover, VT) also had a good day as she brought home a blue ribbon for the Pioneers.

Second place finishers were Emily Hertz (Brattleboro, VT), Kim Meskimen (Medina, MN), Christy McKenzie (Trumansburg, NY), and Jessica Willis (Ridgefield, CT).

Smith also had nine riders place third as Barrett Phillips (Goochland, VA), Lorena Passi (Wappingers Falls, NY), Michaela LeBlanc (Cotuit, MA), Nancy Cannon (Greenville, DE), Kathryn Mishkin (Old Chatham, NY), Kristyn Hall (Newton, OH), Solana Schiller (Southampton, MA), Katherine Obara (Portsmouth, RI), and Li each rode well.

Today’s competition concluded the fall season. The Pioneers were successful, taking a third place finish at each show held at Smith, UMASS, Williams, and Mount Holyoke. The next competition is scheduled for February 25 at the UMASS Show.
