Smith Crew Competes in the Head of the Charles

Boston, MA: With cold temperatures in Boston and with strong wind gusts sweeping across the Charles, Smith Crew took to the water on the Charles River this past weekend to race in the 41st Head of the Charles Regatta.

In the Collegiate Eight, Smith took 13th in a 46 team field finishing with a time of 19:09.64, the third Division III school to cross the finsih line. Division III Trinity College placed first among all teams with a time of 17:50.701 while Williams College took second (18:23.567).

In the Championship Eight, Smith placed 47 out of the 47 team field, crossing the finish line in 19:56:156. Colby College was the only other Division III school to race, finishing in 18:24.048. Division I Princeton University topped all collegiate teams placing second (16:50.059) while US Rowing Princeton Training Center claimed the top spot in 16:34.633.

Smith is in action again this weekend when they travel to Wellesley College to defend their Seven Sister’s Championship title.
