New London, CT: Senior forward Shelley Harrison (Reston, VA) and sophomore guard Ashley Sutton (Greenfield, MA) teamed up Wednesday evening for thirty of the Pioneer’s 72 points to lead Smith past non-conference opponent Mitchell College 72-64. This is Smith's second victory against Mitchell this season, with their first coming in a 62-50 defeat of the Pequots on November 30th in Northampton. Harrison’s dominating play inside the paint yielded 13 points, 9 caroms, 4 assists, 2 steals and 8 blocks in 32 minutes of play for the senior forward. Sutton, 4-8 from behind the arc, netted 17 points, dished out 3 assists, pulled down 5 boards and had 2 steals in 27 minutes of play. Other contributors for the Pioneers include sophomore Jen Daley (Lee, MA) chipping in with 9 points, junior Helena Charron (Pittsfield, NH) with 5 caroms and 8 points, and first year Jessie Paull (Mercer Island, WA) with 8 boards and 5 points. Mitchell’s Shayna Barnes led all scorer’s with her game high 22 points while teammate Gina Derosier chimed in with 14.
