Mikal Minarich
Volleyball

Senior co-captain, Mikal Minarich (Hobart, IN) had 21 kills and only 5 errors for a hitting efficiency of .348. She also added 15 digs and played every set of every game.



Bethany Weiss
Volleyball

Senior co-captain, Bethany Weiss (Windham, NH) posted 12 kills and only 3 errors for a .450 hitting efficiency. Additionally, Bethany had 7 digs, 4 block assists and played every set of every game.

Squash defeats Wellesley in season opener
The Pioneers notched a 7-2 victory over Wellesley, sweeping the third through ninth position matches. Three Pioneers earned their first collegiate dual match victories. Senior co-captain Elizabeth Guyman (Seattle, WA) won in the fourth position, senior Kelsey Radwilowicz (Belchertown, MA) won at fifth position, and senior Su Fu (Beijing, China) won in the eighth position.

Equestrian places fourth in Mount Holyoke show
The Pioneers earned 24 ribbons overall, and 13 top-4 ribbons, en route to their fourth place finish at the Mount Holyoke show. Mount Holyoke won the 13 team show with 46 points, followed by UMass with 35, Holy Cross with 22, Smith with 21, and Williams with 19 to round out the top five.

Swimming & Diving kicks off season at Springfield
The swimming & diving team took on Springfield College in a dual meet to open the 2009-10 season. Although Springfield defeated Smith by a score of 172-118, the Pioneers posted many lifetime best marks. Junior Lily Seidman (Westfield, IN) and first-year Michelle Mai (Paris, France) both had several excellent swims for the Pioneers.

Volleyball Falls to Springfield in NEWMAC Quarterfinals
The Pioneers fell to local rival Springfield 0-3 tonight in quarterfinal action of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Volleyball championship. With the loss, the Pioneers end the season 7-19 while the Pride improved to 27-6 and advanced to the semifinals.

Volleyball Falls at Wellesley
In their last match of the regular season, the Pioneers fell to Wellesley in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) competition in three straight sets, 20-25, 12-25 and 19-25. With the loss, Smith fell to 7-18 overall and 3-6 in the NEWMAC while the Blue improved to 20-9 overall and 7-2 conference play.

Cross-Country Finishes Fifth at NEWMAC Championship
Senior Christine Dzialo (Belchertown, MA) finished in eighth place while the team took fifth at the 2009 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Cross-Country Championship today held in Franklin Park.

Field Hockey Loses 3-1 at Keene State
The Pioneers ended their 2009 season at Keene State College last night in a hard fought, non-conference contest and fell 3-1. Smith concluded the season 3-13 overall while the Owls improved to 15-4.
