First years <b>Devon Quattrocchi (Brewster, NY) and Daron Dean (Brush Prairie, WA)</b> each scored twelve points in their collegiate debuts to lead Smith.</description>

<title>Basketball Participates in the &quot;Pink Zone&quot;</title>

<description>Smith hosts its "Pink Zone" event today in conjuction with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) "Pink Zone" initiative when the Pioneers host NEWMAC and valley rival Mount Holyoke College at 2 p.m. The WBCA began the "Pink Zone," formerly known as "Think Pink," in 2007 to help raise breast cancer awareness on college campuses and communities. Last year, over 1,200 teams participated, reaching over 830,000 fans and raising more than $930,000 to benefit the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.</description>

With the loss, the Pioneers fell to 8-13 overall while Connecticut College improved to 8-14 overall.</description>
