Croquet
The croquet club meets once to twice
a week to learn and practice the fundamentals of the English croquet
game. The club competes in regional tournaments in both the fall and
spring seasons. Last spring Smith took fourth in the Delaware tournament
and hopes to improve on their success this coming year. The coaches
are amazing! All levels of players participate and we have a jolly
good time!

Fencing
Club
The Fencing Club welcomes members of
all levels. No equipment or prior experience is necessary. We train
and compete in all three weapons. Our competitive season, from November
to February, consists of 10-12 meets at various skill levels, against
New England varsity and club teams.

Ice Hockey
Smith’s Ice Hockey Club practices three
times a week at the nearby williston Academy rink and competes against
other East Coast schools. Practice begins in late October for competition
during January and February.

Outing Club
The Outing Club is dedicated to having
outdoor fun amid the natural slender of the Pioneer Valley. Activities
are member directed and can include: hiking, camping, cross-country
skiing, down hill skiing, rock climbing, caving, and biking. The club
meets several times a semester to plan activities. Any member can
participate in trip planning. Most outings happen on the weekend.

Riding
The Riding Club promotes awareness of
equestrian sports and offers noncompetitive and competitive riding
activities. It attends horse shows, runs clinics and hosts parties.
Most members opt to take lessons twice a week, but the club is open
to students with any degree of interest in riding.

Rugby
The Rugby Club teaches rugby and promotes
team spirit through matches with other women’s clubs during the fall
and spring semesters. It draws women of all levels of athletic experience,
fosters a strong camaraderie among its members and for several years
has been considered one of the best clubs of its kind in the region.
Rugby is one of the toughest athletic challenges open to college women,
and stepping up to that challenge can be deeply rewarding.

Sailing
Smith's Sailing club provides recreational
sailing opportunities. Newcomers learn basic sailing; more experienced
sailors develop their racing skills. In the past, Smith's Sailing
Club participated in many coed regattas through their affiliation
with the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA).
Each year current memberships's commitment and level in racing ability
determine future competitive participaton.

Synchronized
Swimming
The Synchronized Swimming Club, also
known as the "Lifeguards," takes swimmers of all abilities and encourages
students who have never tried synchronized swimming to come and learn.
For students who would like to compete, the team usually attends one
or two meets a year. The team performs three annual shows. Members
of the team choose themes and choreograph routines. The team holds
practice two or three times a week.

Ultimate
Frisbee
Ultimate Frisbee is a non-contact sport
dedicated to sportsmanship and the spirit of the game. Smith’s Lunadisc
team hosts scrimmages, travels to other schools to play, and competes
in the Ultimate Players Association tournaments. It practices regularly
and competes both in the fall and in the spring. These past two years,
Lunadisc has established itself as a real powerhouse in the world
of ultimate. The club has qualified for Regionals the past four seasons
and this past spring (2000) qualified for national in Idaho. All ability
levels are welcome!
