Club Sport Advisor: Bonnie May
Smith College is deeply
committed to offering every student the resources and
opportunities she needs to enjoy sports and exercise
at any level she chooses. Whether she's gunning for
a national championship or simply unwinding after a
tough exam, whatever her previous experience, whatever
her proficiency, the Smith student can learn new skills
or develop those she already has, compete at just the
level she finds most gratifying, and make physical fitness
an essential, joyful part of a well-balanced life.
A key element in providing this range of athletic options
is the college's Sport Clubs Program. It's made up of
clubs and teams devoted to sports or other recreational
activities that are generally not represented by any
of Smith's varsity athletic teams. The program offers
a great way to either learn or pursue any sport.
If you want to enjoy playing a game hard and well and
also have the enjoyment of relaxing afterward with your
opponents from other colleges, sport clubs are for you.
They're organized and run by students and draw from
dues, fundraisers and the college's student government.
Because sport clubs are open to Smith students of all
athletic abilities, commitment and performance levels
vary from club to club. The odds are, though, that one
of the clubs listed here will put you just where you
want to be: setting your own benchmarks for athletic
achievement and having the most fun possible reaching
for them. Go for it!
