Browser Requirements

For best results when viewing this site, you should use a Microsoft or Mozilla-based browser of version 5.x or later. Some features may require newer versions. To download the most current release of either browser for free, choose one below and follow the manufacturer's installation directions:

>> Microsoft Internet Explorer

>> Mozilla Firefox

note that clicking either button will open a new browser window to take you to the company's download site. To return here, just close the new window by clicking the small box in the corner.

Viewing Flash Elements

Many pages of this site use Flash for animation and interactivity. If you are using a Microsoft or Netscape browser of version 4.0 or later, you probably already have Flash. If you don't, you can download the player for free in just a few seconds by clicking below:

>> Adobe Flash Player

Display Requirements

This Website is designed for best viewing on color monitors with at least 800x600 screen resolution. If site contents are too large for your screen, and you wish to avoid scrolling right, you may be able to change your monitor's settings under the "display" section of your system control panel. Select a desktop display size with a width of at least 800 pixels. This will probably make many other Websites fit better too, not just this one.

Printing Images and Graphics

Although graphics and reproductions of artwork on this site may look smooth and clear on your screen, pixelation will become apparent if printed on paper. This is because the maximum resolution of a computer monitor is far less than what the eye can detect on paper. To obtain a high quality reproduction of a work you see on the Website, try the online store or contact the museum at artmuseum@smith.edu. Note that all images that appear on this site are protected by copyright of the artist, the Smith College Museum of Art, or other bodies and may not be used without permission.

Store & Membership

If following the "Store" or "Membership" links results in a "page not found" or similar error, it's possible that the secure portion of the site—which is used to capture payment and shipping information—is temporarily offline. Try again later, or if the problem persists, let SCMA staff know about the problem by sending email to artmuseum@smith.edu or by calling 413.585.2760 during business hours. See "Page Display Problems" below for tips on how to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.
