The
American Spectrum exhibition includes seventy-nine
masterworks from the museum's American collection. From Thomas
Eakins's In Grandmother's Time-one of the earliest acquisitions-to
a strong field of contemporary art, American Spectrum traces
the collecting history of the museum from its courageous early
days to its distinguished present.
Highlights
include paintings by John Singleton Copley, Edwin Romanzo
Elmer, Lyonel Feininger, Charles Sheeler, and sculpture
by Elie Nadelman, Louise Nevelson, and John Storrs, among
many others.
