Researching the Collection

• Five College Museums/Historic Deerfifeld Collections Database at http://museums.fivecolleges.edu lists text information (artist, title, etc.) for all artworks in the SCMA, Five College, and Historic Deerfield museums. Thumbnail images of many of the objects are included. Digitization of SCMA’s collection is ongoing.
• Luna Insight Image Database
  Managed by Smith’s Imaging Center (not the museum), the database is available only to the Smith community. Insight contains high-resolution digital images of approximately 2,500 SCMA images and 150,000 images from other collections. New images from SCMA are being added regularly and Smith faculty may request the addition of more SCMA images as needed for teaching. Smith students may access Insight from their computers. • Museum Archives
  Contact the Registrar’s Office for access to records on painting, sculpture and decorative arts collections and museum history. For records on works on paper, contact the Cunningham Center for the Study of Prints, Drawings and Photographs.
• Images of Museum Objects
  Contact the Registrar’s Office to request a slide, photograph or digital reproduction. Smith faculty may request that images of museum objects be put on the Insight database or Blackboard sites for class use. Check the Museum Shop for cards and posters.
