Resources for Teachers

Contact us at the Museum Education Department at 413.585.2773 or museduc@smith.edu for assistance in preparing students for a tour or designing a self-guided visit.

  • All teachers who reserve a visit to a special exhibition receive a packet of information and images to help connect the class visit with the state curriculum frameworks and to get the group excited about their visit to the museum.
  • Teacher workshops provide opportunities to learn about the exhibitions and permanent collections in an interactive and multifaceted way. These events combine discussion, looking activities, and the opportunity to try out lessons. Often artists and guest speakers participate in the workshops. Participants receive certificates of participation; workshops are typically five to six hours in length.
