Planning a Class Visit

Museum staff are available to suggest art works for a class visit, help shape the visit, or lead a discussion or tour.

Because the displays rotate and works sometimes go out on loan, we urge you to contact the museum prior to making an assignment to make sure the art work will be available when needed.

Class visits should take place during normal museum hours. With 2-4 weeks notice, Smith class visits may be scheduled at other times if necessary.

Faculty can schedule a class visit by contacting Ann Musser, Curator of Education, at amusser@smith.edu or 413.585.3109, or click here for an online Group Visit Request Form. We will need the following information:

  • Requested date and time
  • Your name and contact information
  • Course title
  • Number of students
  • Area of the museum that you wish to visit
  • If your class will be doing art work in the museum, please let us know. Note the museum guidelines for allowable media.
  • Any special requests (such as drawing boards)

For visits to the Cunningham Center for the Study of Prints, Drawings and Photographs, please contact the Center directly at 413.585.2764 or ccenter@smith.edu.

Admission is free for Smith and Five College students and faculty. All students must show their ID and receive an admission sticker at the admission desk. Please inform students of the museum guidelines in advance to facilitate their visit.
