Greek 450-400 B.C. Votive
One of the most impressive examples of Greek Architecture was from what is considered the High Classical Period. The Athenian Acropolis, a display of civic pride, is probably the most recognizable architecture from this period. There were unparalleled portrayals of contemporary events on friezes of buildings.
There were certainly revolutionary changes in monumental painting techniques in this period. A shading technique, consisting of hatched areas, gave the illusion of both shadow and volume. The figures are defined less by an outline technique than by complicated patterns of shading and contour lines.
