Susan Heideman earned a B.A. from Boston University School of Fine Arts and an M.A. from Indiana University.
Professor Heideman teaches painting, drawing, and watercolor. Her work has always emerged from the close observation of nature. She is currently engaged in creating large-scale oils that explore the phenomenon of biomorphic forms acting upon one another with relentless energy.
Her work is represented in public collections including the Rose Art Museum, the DeCordova Museum, the Bryn Mawr Collection, the Boston Public Library, and the Miami Hilton. In 1981 she was commissioned to create a seven-by-nine-foot painting that now hangs in the lobby of the Merck Pharmaceutical Research Laboratory just outside of Philadelphia.
