The Brown Fine Arts Center is an example of the college's historic and celebrated commitment to the visual arts, offering an inspiring environment for the study, contemplation and creation of art.

Hillyer Art Library provides ready access to more than 95,000 books and bound periodicals and 37,000 microform publications. The college's Imaging Center makes available to online users on campus a growing database of mounted photographs and slide images of artworks, maps and other visual materials.

Smith College Museum of Art

The college's Museum of Art is one of the best collegiate museums in the country. The permanent collection numbers more than 25,000 objects dating from 2400 B.C. to the present. With the expansion of the academic curriculum into non-Western areas of study, the museum has added to its collection with holdings and exhibitions in Asian, African, Islamic and Latin American arts. Students learn directly from original art through innovative classes, research, intern programs, gallery talks and visits.
