August 2010

New Diploma Program Director!   

Beginning this academic year, Lane Hall-Witt, a lecturer in American Studies and History at Smith College, will take the Diploma Program helm.  Lane will be teaching the fall seminar for the program as well.

Jim Hicks, the former director, will resume his full-time position in Comparative Literature at the University of Massachusetts.  He will also continue as editor in chief of The Massachusetts Review. He plans to help out at Smith this year as needed, particularly during the orientation and registration periods.

AMS Diploma Program to join Smith's new Global Studies Center!

This Fall, a newly-renovated Wright Hall will house Smith's new Global Studies Center.  The new AMS Diploma Program office will be in Wright Hall 122, adjoining the offices of Study Abroad and International Students and Scholars. Suleiman Mourad, Associate Professor of Religion at Smith, will direct the GSC.

Nice to see AMS join the rest of the world, n'est-ce pas?
