Dear AMS Diploma Alumni,

First of all, greetings to each and every one of you! Though I myself haven't met most -- or even many -- of you as yet, I do know something of the value your year at Smith College holds for you. The testimonies at the Diploma Program's fortieth anniversary celebration were proof enough of that.

I also know that many of you are deeply committed to the future of our program. For this reason, I thought I'd take a few minutes to write and update you on recent events.
