Kevin Quashie teaches cultural studies and theory, and is especially interested in black culture and feminisms since 1970. He is the author of two books, The Sovereignty of Quiet: Beyond Resistance in Black Culture and Black Women, Identity, and Cultural Theory: (un) Becoming the Subject, and also co-edited the anthology New Bones: Contemporary Black Writers in America.
Quashie received his B.A. in English from Florida International University; an M.A. in higher education administration from Bowling Green State University; and a second M.A. and Ph.D. (both in English) from Arizona State University.
He is a member of the Women's Studies Program Committee.
