Why I Give to Smith
Giving is intimately tied to the
perceived value of the institutions we support.
We asked a number of people who give to Smith
why they place the college among their philanthropic
priorities. Their answers reflect both their own
values and the value of the Smith experience.
The people at Smith were incredible,
and I feel that I left Smith knowing who
I am, an international person with the experience
of both Chinese and American cultures. Knowing
what I hear from friends at other colleges,
I truly don't think I would have had the
depth of learning and the outstanding support
that I had here. It gave me confidence in
my abilities. I believe I am very fortunate

| I come from a large family, and they
are thrilled that I am the first to attend
college. I think my graduation was as much
for them as for me! Smith has given me an
excellent education and wonderful opportunities
to learn beyond the classroom. I made a
family here, and now I can begin to give
