Parents, friends, and alumnae filled the
foyer of the President's house, spilling into the dining
room and up the stairs, to listen to the annual concert
featuring Smith seniors. Emotions swelled as a string
quartet, playing a stirring piece by Shostakovitch, concluded
an hour of pure delight.
