Smith Board Chair
Shelly Lazarus is CEO of Ogilvy & Mather, a NY advertising firm
which recently produced Brotherhood: A Book Dedicated to the Fallen
343, honoring the 343 New York City firefighters who died in the
line of duty during the September 11 tragedy. Proceeds from the sale
of the book, which includes photos of all the firehouses in the boroughs,
go directly to the Twin Towers Fund and the Family Assistance Fund
of the FDNY Safety Education Fund to benefit the firefighters' families.
An exhibition at the Museum of the City of New York and an auction
of photographs signed by the photographers will also benefit the fund. John Pease, a
Smith College custodian and volunteer fire chief in Hatfield, MA,
heard about Ogilvy's efforts and organized the recognition ceremony.
Accompanying Chief Pease were his wife, Jane; Brian Duggan, Northampton
Fire Chief; Al Morrissette, Easthampton Fire Chief; Steve Coan, Massachusetts
State Fire Marshall; and Dave Beaudin, State Fire Marshall for Western
Massachusetts. A description of the project and excerpts from the book may be seen at www.brotherhoodfdny.com . |
